Why does the cuckoo sing, “koo koo”?
Why does the peacock call, “piya, where are you?”
Dressed in the colors of spring,
The garden charms every heart.
The earth has draped herself in a yellow sari,
Her golden hair spread all around;
With an open heart, she showers her gifts—
“Come, dear children, gather them all.”
Why do you fight among yourselves?
Why do you never think ahead or behind?
The whole creation belongs to all of us;
Why do you keep cutting and destroying it?
The rivers flow on, murmuring and sparkling,
The waterfalls tumble, “jhar jhar jhar jhar”;
The wind blows softly, “sar sar sar sar,”
And the clouds become its cradle.
The mind keeps flowing, keeps moving,
While the intellect sits shy and still;
The consciousness that pervades the entire universe
Tries to make the mind understand.
How unnecessary it is for you
To become so restless and disturbed,
To impose your own intellect
On a creation bound to every passing moment.
Moment by moment, time keeps slipping away;
No one can ever stop it.
Think whatever you wish within your mind—
What is meant to happen, will happen.
Let us carry the energy of life
And spread sweet smiles everywhere;
Let us share and gather
The consciousness of this living world.
