Eternal Learner

“Learning to Ignore”

↳

Learning to ignore
is a practice of life;
not anger or hatred,
but living in peace and comfort.

As long as we keep taking
people’s words to heart,
we will remain sad and distressed,
and keep drowning our minds in sorrow.

When someone praises us,
our mind begins to soar in the sky;
but the moment someone says something bad,
we drown in an ocean of sorrow.

We have our own existence,
dependent upon our own strength.
Why should what others say or hear
have any meaningless effect on us?

Following the saying,
“Let the elephant walk through the marketplace,”
let us keep moving forward,
free from worries,
living without inner conflict.

Ignoring things changes
your position;
circumstances, money, influence—
all these conditions as well.

It is not necessary
to hold on to everything we hear,
or become restless and disturbed
when someone calls us good or bad.

It is wisdom to walk here
within our own boundaries.
Ignoring unnecessary words
is a sign of intelligence.

If you wish to live peacefully,
learn to ignore;
and move forward firmly
on the path toward your highest goal.
