Beauty changes
with the passage of time.
Eyes, features, complexion, hair—
all become worn and faded.
There is a great difference
between looking beautiful
and being beautiful.
Even those who look unattractive
can be truly beautiful here.
Beauty lies in our
feelings, thoughts, and conduct—
Love, compassion, kindness, affection,
and the willingness to help others.
By embracing virtues,
by filling the heart with tenderness,
by awakening love within,
we make the world beautiful.
Courage, patience, hard work,
endurance and service—
When men and women adopt these,
they gradually reap their rewards.
They become truly beautiful,
through their graceful deeds;
They may not be visibly beautiful,
but they satisfy the hearts of living beings.
Even a celestial beauty changes
with advancing age,
But the beauty of good deeds
keeps growing in every circumstance.
To look beautiful is in God’s hands,
as He has made us the way we are;
But to be beautiful is in our hands—
when we choose beautiful deeds.
Good deeds make a person
beautiful forever;
With the passage of time,
they keep adding to their radiance.
Whether beautiful or unattractive,
let everyone perform beautiful deeds;
The beauty of one’s deeds
makes the doer immortal.
