The Significance of Kamakhya

Upon Nilachal Hill stands this shrine,
A living symbol of motherhood divine.
Lush greenery spreads all around,
Where spiritual art and architecture abound.

They say that Sati’s sacred womb
Fell here, giving the place its mystical bloom.
A stone carved in that very form
Became the deity, revered and warm.

Goddess Kamakhya, who fulfils each desire,
Creates new life with her sacred power.
Presiding deity of Tantric lore,
She is the primal Shakti, forevermore.

Mysterious, profound, with Tantric grace,
She manifests in many a form and face.
The ten Mahavidyas dwell in her might,
Embodiments of wisdom, power, and light.

Each year, devotees, seekers, and Tantrics arrive,
As Ambubachi Mela brings the shrine alive.
A festival celebrating the Mother’s creative force,
A sacred occasion of nature’s eternal course.

In ancient times, the path was steep,
And pilgrims walked through valleys deep.
Only a chosen few could make their way,
To seek the mystic powers hidden away.

Yogis and Yoginis practised spells,
Enveloped in mysteries no one could tell.
They were believed to transform sheep and goats,
While fear and wonder filled the air around.

The Goddess Herself resides in this sacred place,
Embracing the rugged terrain with grace.
Faithful devotees journey here to pray,
And seek fulfilment of their wishes each day.

A crimson flag waves high in the air,
Revealing the divine wonders dwelling there.
It proclaims that the Mother of the World resides,
With all branches of sacred knowledge by her side.

Enchanting vistas stretch far and wide,
Peaceful valleys bloom on every side.
In every particle, her divine presence shines,
As a grand assembly of celestial powers combines.
