Mother Vindhyavasini
On the Vindhya mountain range,
Dwells Mother Vindhyavasini,
The living manifestation of Yogamaya,
The awakened Mother of the hills.
When Kansa hurled into the air
The daughter born to Yashoda,
She soared into the heavens,
Leaving him astonished and bewildered.
A divine voice proclaimed aloud:
“The one destined to destroy Kansa
Has already taken birth on Earth,
The one who shall redeem the world.”
The three divine forms of Yogamaya—
Maha Lakshmi, Kali, and Saraswati—
Reside here in sacred splendour
At Vindhyachal, Kali Khoh, and Ashtabhuja.
Pilgrims journey here with devotion,
Receiving blessings from the Divine.
They bathe in the holy waters of the Ganga,
Then seek Mother Vindhyavasini’s shrine.
Next, they visit Kali Khoh,
And then the shrine of Ashtabhuja.
The sacred journey to all three shrines
Completes the holy triangular pilgrimage.
Blessed with nature’s splendour,
The mountains rise and gently fall.
Divine, serene, and filled with devotion,
Nature’s enchanting beauties enthral.
The Ganga flows in crystal purity,
Slender, tranquil, soothing to behold.
Morning and evening, the sun’s golden rays
Paint wondrous pictures, more precious than gold.
Over smooth and silken sands,
The stream of pristine waters glides.
The riverbank, like a vast and splendid platter,
Offers peaceful joy on either side.
Lakshmi, Kali, and Saraswati—
All three goddesses dwell here,
Bestowing their blessings and divine abundance
Upon the suffering souls who draw near.
Each day, the Goddess adorns Herself
In three enchanting forms of grace.
As a child, a maiden, and an elder,
New beauty shines upon Her face.
She fulfils the wishes of Her devotees;
Ask, O child, for what your heart desires.
She grants Her blessings in abundance
To those whose faith in Her never expires.
