Worrying About Tomorrow

By Vidya

What will tomorrow bring? Who can tell?
Who truly knows the ways of time?
What will make us happy when it comes?
Even this, we cannot define.

The world is lost in thoughts of tomorrow,
Wondering what to seize and what to store.
Let us enjoy what we have today,
Yet gather for generations more.

Why hesitate to be dishonest?
Why not deceive and take another’s wealth?
The more our treasures keep on growing,
The less our hearts find peace and health.

A mountain of desires stands before us,
One by one, we strive to fulfil them all.
Yet neither our wishes nor our efforts diminish,
While the days keep moving, answering time’s call.

The future is a cunning deceiver,
Forever weaving dreams of delight.
With glittering visions of a brighter tomorrow,
It keeps the whole world lost in its light.

As our accumulated riches keep increasing,
Our goals grow higher along the way.
Where will this endless pursuit come to rest?
Who can tell where its limits lay?

What will tomorrow bring? Who knows?
Great scholars have come and gone;
Yet uncertainty about the future
Has humbled the proud, one by one.

That tomorrow should obey our wishes—
Can such a thing ever be?
We are but puppets dancing through life’s drama;
Can we command our destiny?

Let us not drown ourselves in worry,
But flow with time’s unceasing stream.
Let us trust our Heavenly Father,
And surrender to Him, complete.
