The Moonlight of Sharad Purnima
By Vidya
The night is bathed in silvery light,
On Kojagari Purnima, a night so bright.
Nectar pours down from the moon above,
Revealing a scene of beauty and love.
Complete in all its sixteen phases,
The radiant moon shines through the skies.
Drawn by Earth’s enchanting attraction,
It seems to descend in loving affection.
A mysterious moonlight spreads everywhere,
Across our creation, beyond compare.
A world of fantasy comes into view,
As wonder fills every gaze anew.
Its silky rays, so gentle and fine,
Create a mist with a magical shine.
They grant the people of Earth below
A heavenly bliss that only they know.
Those who dwell in artificial light,
When they come close to nature’s delight,
Experience a thrill so tender and rare,
A joy that fills the heart with care.
Beneath its soft rays, in soothing cold,
The soul finds comfort beyond all gold.
A sense of wonder, a peaceful delight,
Fills every heart throughout the night.
The autumn moonlight pours everywhere,
Across all directions, beyond compare.
It will continue to shower its silver glow,
From dusk till dawn, in a ceaseless flow.
Bathed in this moonlight, plants will revive,
And flourish anew with life inside.
Medicinal herbs, filled with nectar’s grace,
Will bring health and healing to every place.
Goddess Lakshmi wanders from door to door,
Inspecting each home as in days of yore.
With joy, she accepts the offerings made,
Of kheer, fresh fruits, and sweets displayed.
The moon pours nectar, pure and bright,
Into the kheer placed beneath its light.
An ancient tradition, cherished and dear,
Lives on in our homeland, India, year after year.
