What is the mind, and where does it reside?
Let us pause and think for a while.
Do not let your thoughts become confused;
This subject is vast, beyond measure.
Is the mind a master or a servant?
Does it lead the way, or follow others?
When it goes beyond our control,
It can bring destruction to our lives.
To keep it under control,
To guide it according to our will,
Is not an easy task in this world;
To keep it within its limits is difficult indeed.
So restless is the mind
That it travels faster than light.
Even while sitting in one place,
It takes us wandering everywhere.
One who learns to master the mind
Becomes a true seeker.
Walking on the path of truth and righteousness,
One attains the highest excellence.
Whether it wishes to soar into the sky
Or descend into the depths below,
It travels there with effortless ease;
It has no fixed destination of its own.
To control the senses
Lies within the power of the mind.
But if the mind itself becomes unruly,
How can life remain beautiful?
Intellect guides the mind,
When guided by wisdom and discernment.
A person who walks the righteous path
Does not remain lost in endless thoughts.
“The mind that surrenders accepts defeat; The mind that conquers achieves victory.”
With victory over the mind,
One conquers every challenge
And earns the love of all.
