— A Poetic Translation of “वर्षा ऋतु”
The loveliest season has arrived,
Dust has vanished from every leaf;
Trees and plants now freshly bathed,
Glow in robes of emerald green.
Grandpa Sun draws darkened clouds
From lakes and rivers far below;
Then sends them back, with interest earned,
To bless the earth today or tomorrow.
The mango groves, like brides just bathed,
Appear more radiant than before;
Their dripping leaves shower crystal drops
On every traveler passing below.
The earth stretches far and wide,
Wrapped in a lush green, living veil;
The clouds have filled her waiting lap,
With nature’s priceless, gentle gifts.
Drinking deeply the nectar of rain,
The fertile soil comes back to life;
In countless flowers and tender plants,
She reveals her vibrant, splendid form.
The thirst of Mother Earth is quenched,
Each particle is satisfied;
For every creature, great and small,
She stores life’s water deep below.
As soon as the rains embraced the land,
She wore her green embroidered shawl;
It seemed as though she gladly dressed
To welcome the blessed monsoon home.
Upon that verdant silken wrap,
Dewdrops sparkle like strings of pearls;
Even the endless sky above
Finds its reflection shining there.
Every living being rejoices,
Fresh life blossoms once again;
Across all that lives and all that’s still,
Spreads nature’s enchanting cloak of green.
It seems a festival has come;
Rain-soaked trees dance with delight.
At Mother Nature’s boundless grace,
Creation stands fulfilled, from root to crown.
