Faith and Love

July 11

Both are noble feelings of the heart,
Yet each is different in its art.
One walks within a narrower sphere,
The other spreads both far and near.

Faith is steadfast trust profound,
In God, the Guru, the wise renowned.
It is unwavering, pure belief,
In souls devoted to mankind’s relief.

Like the ocean, faith expands,
Seeking to unite all hearts and lands.
It longs that everyone should embrace
The one they honor with love and grace.

May all ten directions, earth and sky,
Bow before the One held high.
May this sacred feeling ever rise,
Like endless waves beneath the skies.

Love seeks an exclusive claim,
The lover’s heart its only aim.
It wishes every glance to cease,
Demanding undivided peace.

Its sense of “mine” knows little bound;
No rival’s footsteps may be found.
Should another enter there,
The harmony dissolves in despair.

Love offers selfless dedication,
Yet longs for complete affection.
Those who threaten its cherished tie
May awaken thoughts it can’t deny.

Love is a crystal-flowing stream,
Between two banks it keeps its dream.
It asks for surrender without condition;
When denied, it grieves in silent submission.

Both are noble states of mind,
Yet different paths they choose to find.
Their journeys move in opposite ways,
A wonder are their differing ways.
