July 28
The body tires with every mile
Along life’s winding, rugged road;
Yet still we walk with quiet resolve
Along life’s winding, rugged road.
Each breath at times feels hard to bear,
The heart grows weary, bruised, and worn;
Yet onward still our footsteps fall
Along life’s winding, rugged road.
Childhood blossomed, youth took flight,
The middle years slipped softly by;
Now age has come with heavy steps
Along life’s winding, rugged road.
We are but grains of passing dust,
Brief moments in eternity’s stream;
With joy and grief, with hope and tears,
We travel life’s winding, rugged road.
The days keep flowing like a stream,
Our ways of living change with time;
Through every peak and every vale,
We journey this winding, rugged road.
At times we rise, at times we fall,
At times we lose, at times we win;
Still fate invites us to move ahead
Along life’s winding, rugged road.
The roles we play are never still
Upon the stage that life has made;
With changing masks, we play our parts
Along life’s winding, rugged road.
A little girl, a cherished child,
A loving wife, a mother’s heart;
Now grandmother with silver grace—
Still walking this winding, rugged road.
This world itself’s a mighty stage,
A timeless play before our eyes;
However we can, we carry on
Along life’s winding, rugged road.
So let the seasons come and go,
Let fortune smile or turn away;
With faith within, we walk until the end
Along life’s winding, rugged road.
